On March 6, 2020, a seminar was held at the Institute of History of Ukraine.
«Procedure for awarding and cancellation of scientific degrees in Ukraine: discussion of draft normative acts proposed by NAHEQA»
The seminar was attended by scientists from the Institute of History of Ukraine, V. Koretsky’s Institute of State and Law, A. Yu. Krymsky Institute of Oriental Studies, T. Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and representatives of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAHEQA).
Subject of the discussion – NAHEQA’s drafts of the regulatory documents:
· Procedure for awarding scientific degrees Doctor of Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy by specialized academic councils of higher education institutions (scientific institutions);
· The order of cancellation of the council’s decision on awarding the scientific degree;
Participants of the seminar expressed their comments and suggestions regarding changes to the procedure for awarding and cancellation of scientific degrees developed by NAHEQA in cooperation with the academic community. European practices of awarding academic degrees and the problem of academic integrity in Ukraine were discussed.
Proposals for changes in the order of awarding and cancellation of scientific degrees were then submitted to the NAHEQA representatives.
